A young couple reportedly partied at a bar after allegedly murdering a 19-year-old girl, then argued about how to dispose of her corpse in text and Facebook messages!
About 200 miles away from where Somer Thompson was last seen alive a sex offender has been arrested. 36-year-old Kenneth Kellam was charged with two counts each of attempting to entice a child for indecent purposes, attempted child molestation, attempted false imprisonment, and attempted aggravated sodomy on two boys in the 4th grade.
Could Kellam be responsible for Somer’s disappearance and death too? Greg Edwards, the Dougherty County District Attorney believes Kellam could be. While there is not a direct evidentiary link between Kellam and Somer Thompson, Edwards says “It’s geographically feasible that he could have a connection to the case, and his M.O. is similar.”
Kellam allegedly approached the two school aged boys on two occasions. The first time the boys were able to get away. By the second time they’re mother had been informed and she was waiting and ready when her boys were approached the second time.
This could be just another tip to add to the growing 2000 plus tips that have already come into the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, but it’s also one that Samuel Thompson, Somer’s father, is using for solace. “I just hope and pray that this is the guy so he can't do this again.” Authorities have not contacted Thompson about Kellam and they have not returned repeated phone calls.
