Where is Masaraha?

Posted: 04:44 PM ET

Police are desperately trying to find answers to what happened to 2 ½ year old Masaraha Ross. The little girl was last seen with her mother, 29-year-old Ronkeya Holmes in the Winter Haven area of Central Florida. Police considered the child endangered and are attempting to establish a timeline. What we have so far is spotty information and gaps in the overall case itself.

 Masaraha Ross, Ronkeya Holmes
Masaraha Ross, Ronkeya Holmes

Here is what we do know.

Police say Masaraha was staying with her biological father in Florida while her mother, Ronkeya Holmes was in GA finishing up school. When school concluded in September, she attempted to pick up her daughter and for some reason, the exchange never happened and Holmes returned to GA. Holmes then returns to FL to get her toddler in mid-October, and this time she is successful. What comes next is anyone’s guess.

No one has heard from Holmes since October 20th when she called her sister and told her that the car she was driving was impounded, she had Masaraha with her and cryptically told her that she would “take care of things.” The interesting part of that tid bit is that, when the car was taken, there was no sign of Holmes or her daughter in the vehicle. The person behind the wheel is the cousin of Masaraha’s biological father, who is now in a Polk County jail for charges unrelated to this case.

Say what? Yes. We have no idea how all these pieces fit together, and neither do the cops for that matter.

Bottom line. It’s been 10 days since anyone has heard from Ronkeya Holmes and her 2 ½ year old daughter Masaraha and we are eager to find out what’s going on. Police would like anyone with information to contact CRIME STOPPERS 1-800-226-TIPS.

I think the child's father or family know what happen because why would the cousin be driving a car that Ronkeya Holmes drove down their to get her child. Now they are missing. look at Masaraha Ross
father, have he been talked to at all?

Magz   October 31st, 2009 6:58 pm ET

Has anyone held the cousin for questioning? Did they ask the cousin how they got the car from Ronkeya and the last location the two were together when the cousin picked the car up? Did you guys get DNA samples from them (The father and his cousin) incase? And it is only Oct 31st. The father is in jail since they have gone missing October 20th? Wow. Unrelated charges?? This has weird written all over it.. Have they checked the cousins cell phone records to see who the cousin was talking to on the day the two went missing? Have they checked Ronkeya's cell records? Did the father make a call to someone on that day also? How long has the toddler been living with the father before Ronkeya finished school? She finished school? Good for her! After she worked so hard I hope they are both okay. The Devil is a liar and I will keep them in my prayers. May God have his hands all over them.

Obviously if he had the vehicle, he got it from the mother or the bio dad so one of the two of them know what has happened to the mother and the little girl-those two need to be interrogated over and over again but if they are criminals they know how to get around the system of course.

The story just does not make any sense. Why is the child endanger? How did the father's cousin get the care?

I think that a custody fight ensued and that ended in foul play. The person who did this may not of wanted and acted hastly and now is doing everything to cover up the crime.

How bizarre. Only cops impound a car and she knew it was going to the impound and she wasn't with the car ??? Where is the rest of the story ? Was she at a house somewhere in the vicinity and let the cousin take the car ? Did the cousin call her or text her that he was stopped and they were taking the car ?

Bonnie   November 2nd, 2009 9:36 pm ET

How did the cousin get the car to begin with ? Where is the rest of the story ? The woman is missing and there is nothing in here that tells us how he got posession of the car.

Just want to correct a few errors that I read from the above comments

- The father is NOT in jail. His name is Lester Ross and he is no longer cooperating with detectives (the cousin is in jail on unrealated charges)
-Fathers family also is not cooperating with detectives
- The child had been living with her father since April
- There is also NO proof that the exchange ever took place

There has been NO Amber alert because she has not been abducted, she is just listed as missing because she was last seen with one of her parents.

This story is not in our papers unless there is some new news about it. Many people in the area don't even know that it is going on.

Welcome to Polk County! This is the same county police department that was playing the Nintendo Wii during the drug bust a few months ago. I lived in Polk County for 18 years but finally got away from that hell hole. Expect nothing in this case to be solved because the county sheriff, Grady Judd, is only concerned with making money and getting his face on TV. Shamefull!

well lets start by saying we dont know whats going on. The father is a good man and he takes care of all his kids. I know I can bearly get my kids father to baby sit let alone keep the child for 7 mo. There was not an issue with who the child live with. The father was simply helping his babys mother so she could get o her feet. They were not arguing and there was no beef for him to do anything to her or his daughter who he loves very much. I guess that makes this even more weird for everyone involved. I am praying for the mother to just go to the police. No matter what, no one will blame her or press charges on her they just need to know that she and the baby is ok. she is grown and she can do what she wants to everyone just want to know how the baby is doing.
