I live within a few blocks from where he was arrested and was already on edge. This has really driven it home! I am the mother of 3 girls and also the Neighborhood Watch Captain. Parents REALLY need to take heed and even if the kids get mad...Keep them close!

GJoseph770   November 2nd, 2009 10:27 pm ET

Such a sad, sad shame that persons like predator Kellem could be allowed to run free without there being checks on his whereabouts almost all the time. Where's the ankle bracelets? Let's consider embedding a microchip in sex offenders that will constantly alert police and investigative departments as to their whereabouts. Shux, we microchip pets – lets microchip sex offenders. Too late for Somer, but a place to start... So sorry Somer ... Wonder if Kellem could also somehow be linked to Haley ...

Tracey   November 2nd, 2009 11:27 pm ET

Hello all i think all sex offenders should all be put on a island and never be able to leave and that is where they should live out there life or if they reoffend they should be put to death by letting the familys put them to death... But i would like to know what is going on with this why would want to take someones child 10 yrs ago this would not happen our courts are so easy is is not funny you let someone hurt one of my kids that person would not make it to court I would hunt them down like a dog and i would try the person convict and execute that person my self..

Thanks

I can not believe what this world is coming to.. I still can't help but sometimes blame the parents for being partly responsible for things like this happening.. I can NOT imagine letting my own second grader walk home from school.. Even if we just lived right across the street.. You can't trust anyone now a days and I don't know how many more sad stories like this it is going to take for parents to realize that times have changed.. When I was a kid, I can remember my mom running into the gas station and leaving the car running.. YOU CAN'T do that kind of stuff these days.. I have 2 daughters and there is NO way for any reason I would ever let them out of my sight.. I would never send my kids walking down any street alone for any reason.. I hate this happened to this poor girl, and I hope they will find this jerk and give him what he deserves.. But, this country has became so bad.. It seems like people actually get in more trouble for harming an animal than they do for harming a child.. Not that I think it is ok to harm animals, but how is that right? I don't know who it is that are electing these judges who are letting these sex offenders free, or these mom murderer's free.. What on earth has happened to our justice system.. A slap on the wrist is not cutting it anymore.. I think the people who commit such horriffic crimes should equally be tortured and put to death.. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I don't care WHO it was, if someone even tried to mess with my children, I would kill them.. My sympothy goes out to the family of this precious little girl, and to her precious little brother.. I know they will find out the truth, and hopefully will make sure this person never sees the outside world again... I love you Nancy

Renita   November 3rd, 2009 10:37 am ET

I don't say any sex offender should be allowed to roam freely. I think they should locked away forever after comitting their first offense. There is no such thing as rehabilitation. Sex offenders are very sick people and they need to be locked away. What I don't understand is why a drug dealer is given more time than a pedophile. If we allow these people another chance to live amongst our children, then we are putting are children at risk. Once a crime is comitted against a child, the person who is responsible needs to be institutionalized for life. They do not deserve a second chance.

Sandy   November 3rd, 2009 11:07 am ET

You said it Tracey!! My thoughts exactly!! Let justice be served by the families of the victims. This has gone on long enough

lynn   November 3rd, 2009 12:52 pm ET

I always thought ankle bracelets (like the use for home arrest) was a good idea for sex offenders. These offenders have serious mental issues, and if let out of jail should be able to be tracked and found at all times...If so things like this wouldnt happen, more kids would be safe, and possibly so many kids wouldnt disappear so often....They gave up their rights when they violated a child innocense.

Marie   November 3rd, 2009 12:53 pm ET

I gotta tell you, my heart goes out to Somer's family, and I hope that justice will be served. On the other hand I am raising my grandson who is now 11, he came with me after I got a call from Florida that my grandson had been taken into protective custody for being sexually and physically abuse for approximately 6 months ten times a day, and at that time he was only 7, and all this guy got out of it was a total of 5 yrs in Florida State Prision, and he is only serving 2 yrs because it took almost two yrs to get it in the court system. And because it took so long he serves the 2 yrs minus the two yrs to get into the court they considered it time served. That's our Justice System. Now that I am raising him, I gotta tell you, I have vowed that nobody will ever get the chance to do any harm to him, because they would not make to court this time. KEEP YOUR KIDS CLOSE TO YOU. This is our world today. My prayers go out to this family and every family that has ever had to be put in this position. GOD BLESS

Jackie   November 3rd, 2009 2:16 pm ET

It sickens me that we live in a world like this. Its so true, You cant let your kids out of your sight. I will continue to pray for the family and that they find the sick sick person who did this.

kelly   November 3rd, 2009 3:05 pm ET

I am so tired of these "bleeding heart" judges letting these animals off with a joke of a sentence for such horrible crimes against our children. The punishment for a first-time offender should be the death penalty. Even if a murder wasn't commited, the offender still deserves to die because he or she has killed the innocence of the child. Our children deserve to be able to play outside and have fun with their friends without having some sick, evil, twisted maniac lurking around the corner. These monsters can not be rehabilitated. I am also sick of the victims and their families put on trial in the media and made to feel like it's their fault! The perp gets way more respect in the media than the victims or the families. If this IS the man that killed Somer, then I pray to God that this time he gets what he deserves!

april   November 3rd, 2009 3:13 pm ET

All of these children hurt by people that can just walk the streets. WE should feel safe in the United States. Just remember, it is our government, that wants to cut jobs. This includes those that work in and around the prison system. We cut these job's, and more men like this will be able to walk free. I pay my taxes, were are they going? To all of you politicians, I want to be potected, and my grandchildren!
Stop giving our money away, and make more positions in the probation, parole, and jails. Keep these freaks locked up. Don't let us lose another child to such a horrible death. Keep these children safe. How would they feel if it was a family member? would we see a change then?

Jane   November 3rd, 2009 6:03 pm ET

I think these offenders should be branded on their face so they can be recognized and no longer be allowed to hide in our midst.

Joann   November 3rd, 2009 7:41 pm ET

I hope they find the person very soon. I can see them looking at this guy as a person of intrest. I don't want them to jump to conclusions JUST because he is a registered sex offender. I am in no way condoning his actions don't get me wrong. I just want the right person found. I also was curios when they do find the killer if in anyway it is linked to Haley Cumings.

heather   November 3rd, 2009 7:41 pm ET

I completely agree with Jennifer- the world is NOT the same as it was 20 years ago. I completely disagree that our children should be walking home unchaperoned or adult supervised. We need to all band together and create parenting networking if we need to, so a trusted PARENT in the neighborhood picks up the children of that neighborhood, and perhaps rotate on a daily or weekly basis between other TRUSTED parents. The modern society we live in has become just too violent and scarey. Our innocent shildren should not be attacked by these monsters. We cannot wait for the justice system to do something- we must band together to protect our loved ones. There are way too many freaks out there- why arent these people on death row? the crimes they committ are VILE and DISGUSTING!! people like that dont change! obviously ! read about the guy in chicago that was JUST let out of prison on a rape charge after serving 15 years, now they find SEVEN dead women on his property!!!! WAKE UP AMERICA!!

Angela   November 3rd, 2009 8:16 pm ET

I agree with some of the comments on here about "somewhat blamming the parents for giving the kids too much freedom" it sucks to say that, and Im very sorry for somer's family, but it seems everyday you turn on the news and somebody's child is missing or has been killed and sexually abused! I have never always been over portected of my 2 year old,but now I know why I am! It has got so bad with kids missing That I don't even want her ttoys laying in the yard. I don't want any sex offenders know a child lives here. I know she should be sleeping in her on room but I know I would never get any sleep wondering if she is ok,or still there! I live within 5 miles of a state prison So I say alet,But you can never be too Alet! always know where your kids are! Never turn away for one min.My heart goes to every family that has lost somebody do to the sick people in this world! " When Does it STOP?"

jlr   November 3rd, 2009 10:12 pm ET

My heart goes out to Somer's Family.
When is the Government going to step up and put a end to these animals.
I will not let my daughter ride the bus to or from school because her bus stop it a convicted child molester home. he has been released from prison and the school board told me that they will not move the bus stop.

Linda Radcliff   November 3rd, 2009 10:24 pm ET

I agree with Tracey and Jennifer. Why are these people aloud to roam free? I think that they should be eliminated. These people cannot be rehabilitated. The scarey thing is, that everytime we hear about a missing child, there are SO MANY registered sex offenders living or working in a 5 mile radius of where the child was last seen. ? People need to check their local state police website frequently to know who is living/working near where they live or where there children go to school. These perverts are amongst us everyday. Not just when we hear about a missing child. Why does our government allow that? Our children deserve better! My heart goes out to this family. I keep them in my prayers. I hope that they catch this disgusting pervert soon.

T. Stites   November 3rd, 2009 11:03 pm ET

If the punishment in the U.S. was stronger these kind of crimes against our children would not happen. These people ruin the lives of the children then get to go on with their own lives..where is the justice? If any kind of crime against a child carried life or the death penalty they would not happen. I think the offenders should get the same punishment as the child went through..then send them to the Lord for their final judgement!!!

Don   November 3rd, 2009 11:18 pm ET

Sexual predators especially on children are worse than murderers, these sick individuals are not curable and should never be released from prison, they should be locked up on death row and taken out like the scum they are. Look at the news just in the past three weeks and see how many children have come up missing and look at how many of those precious children were abducted by a sexual predator who was released from prison. There is no punishment to harsh for these sick SOB's, I am sick and tired of hearing that another child was murdered by one of these whack jobs. What happened to all of our obligations as ADULTS to the children. We all can help even if you, yourself do not have any kids. Watch out for them, report anyone who does not fit in your neighborhood. As adult we always need to be on the lookout, the young children are too persuasive not to be looked after.
Second we all need to contact our law makers and get them active in setting up stiffer laws for these freaks of nature. We need to treat them like the scum they are, place chips in them like we do on our animals that can track them down if needed. Some ppl might think this is harsh, but let me ask you this what will you do/think if this was your child. Remember 9/11 all Americans were ready to take the fight to the morons (being civil) who attacked our beautiful country. Now look at us after just a few short years we are setting ourselves up for another attack. We become complacent to what is happening out there until it happens again, and it will happen again. This is what is happening to our laws and punishment, name one thing that is worse than harming a child, CAN YOU. Our justice system should now allow these sick scum bags to ever walk free in society. The death penalty is to easy for these ppl, release them to the families which lost the child, then we will see justice.
This type of crime will never stop until we band together and make our law makers change the laws.

priscilla   November 4th, 2009 3:05 am ET

its sad but we are gonna keep loosing our children because nobody will do anything about it. judges are elected so if we elect them and they screw up.then elect someone else.dont keep putting the same idiots up there.the judges are mostley older people and they live in the past not the future.times have changed.they need to take theses people and lock them up forever......

Janice Neuman   November 4th, 2009 4:24 am ET

It makes me so distraught, another child missing, another beaten to death, another's body found sexually abused and dumped in a landfill, omg.....very sick individuals who committ these dispicable acts of vicious violence against helpless children, what could a little child do to deserve this? It's obvious that these INHUMAN, VERY DERRANGED PREDATORY PARASITES have crossed a boundary that SHOULD NOT BE CROSSED, EVER. Our responsibility as adults, mothers, fathers, family members, neighbors, community members to our children is to PROTECT THEM, AT ALL COSTS....KEEP VIGILANT, DON'T EVER, EVER ASSUME THAT THEY CAN TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES!
In most of these cases, sadly, is that the predator struck when the child was left alone for a few minutes....some near their homes!! The lesson, from my observation, is the pedophiles, sex offenders seem to have all the time in the world to watch, observe and wait for the oppurtunity to strike, unfortunately, someone, somewhere, somehow gives them that oppurtunity. By letting our guard down for a few minutes, allowing a false sense of security...and then in a flash...our world changes forever.
Don't let it happen again, please, TAKE CARE OF THE CHILDREN, always keep them in sight, know where they are at all times and teach them not to leave or talk to strangers, it's so important.
As mothers, grandmothers...we cry when we hear the news of a missing child, one that was killed or abused, all the parents had to do was to keep watch, know what's going on all around, take note of people who are nearby.....it doesn't cost a thing to do all of this, you will have some peace of mind.

James   November 4th, 2009 8:55 am ET

When will all these bleeding heart judge's, parole board's, defense lawyer's, mental health expert's ect ever learn that these sex offender's CANNOT EVER be rehabilated!! They will continue to repeat their crimes over and over untill they are locked away forever or killed. But, PLEASE don't take my word for it. Just check out the news each day and see for yourselves how many offenses these subhuman's commit again. Next year is national election time as we all know. I suggest we all contact our offical's who are up for election and demand they get tougher on these preditor's so that our children and grandchildren and wive's, mother's ect can be safe here in America.

msjones   November 4th, 2009 9:20 am ET

Why blame this parent for someone else action this child was with her sister and bro .and was upset and ran away from them ,lets start to putting this sick people away for good and not let them out in 5 to 10 yrs

Teremist   November 4th, 2009 10:24 am ET

No surprises here, yet ANOTHER SICK CHILD PREDATOR, released from prison in FLORIDA, to DO IT AGAIN, and again, and again!
"We must NOT suffer monsters, to live amongst us!"
There is no greater monster, than a child predator.
THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE SHOULD BE HANGING THEIR COLLECTIVE HEADS IN SHAME! THEY DO NOTHING TO VALUE OR PROTECT WOMEN AND CHILDREN FROM SEX OFFENDERS........... EVERY ONE OF THESE NEW OFFENSES RESTS ON THEM!
NO BAIL, NO PROBATION, NO PAROLE, AND NO SENTENCING OPTIONS EXCEPT NATURAL LIFE OR THE DEATH PENALTY FOR ALL SEX OFFENDERS!.......................You can't rehabilitate them, you can't change them, but you can recycle them, like the garbage they are, with lethal injection.

shirley   November 4th, 2009 10:42 am ET

These animals who prey upon children will not change they are only attracted to children and now view them as disposable sex toys. I do believe in justice and fairness for all but this has to stop and the harder we come down on the offenders the more they are now tring to hide what they do and have been doing all along. They won't stop so we have to stop them. NO SECOND CHANCES

Brenda Rankin   November 4th, 2009 11:58 am ET

I can asure you if anybody did this to my children or grandchildren i would be there at the court house waiting just like in A Time To Kill. these pedophiles would not have a chance to walk the streets again. This is not 20 or 30 years ago where you could walk all over town, play in the parks without your parents being there. these pedophiles do not deserve a second chance. The judges are just as guilty as the person that did the crime when they let them out of jail. People that are charged with drugs get more time than these people. drug users should be in a program so they can get well. so the prisons can keep these pedophiles in there. This last rapist should have never been let out of jail and ten women would be still alive.

Mike   November 4th, 2009 1:48 pm ET

Things like will always happen, the best anyone can do is try there best to make sure it doesnt happen to their family. As long as humans live laws will be broken no matter how much you try to do to stop them. Simply putting a tracking device means nothing becasue all they have to do is go in a place were it doesnt transmit and boom they can slip if off or even if inplanted it would be removed. Throwing them all on an island isnt gonna work becasue time and time again people are being proven inocent of crime they were convicted of. And not with the new sexting laws you would be sending little children to live on this island with them because of dumb young mistakes of sending naked pictures to their boyfriends/girlfriends. So no matter what you try to do there will be a major flaw. Best thing you can do is a parent is watch your OWN kid and even thing most child molesters are related to the child so thats not even gonna be that much help. So to answer the question of when this stuff will stop then answer is simply NEVER. Human nature will always remain flawed.

Kate   November 4th, 2009 1:53 pm ET

The laws need to be changed on what the minimum punishments are for these offenses. We are using mandates that were developed when children were considered lesser humans than adults. Hence the drug penalities being more severe. Pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated (the true monsters not the 18 year old dating a 16 year old) and the punishments need to take that into consideration and be permanent. They need to ask for help before acting on their sick thoughts and if they don't – they made their choice...kill 'em. They gave up their rights as a human when they purposely harmed a child.

MARILYN   November 4th, 2009 2:40 pm ET

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CALL THE SHOW FOR SOMETIME NOW ASKING WHY CAN'T MICROCHIP THE CHILDREN. A CHILD REPORTED MISSING COULD BE LOCATED VERY QUICKLY AND IF THESE ANIMALS KNEW THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY THAT THEIR "PREY" MIGHT HAVE ONE JUST MIGHT MAKE THEM THINK TWICE.

Laura Wallace   November 4th, 2009 3:48 pm ET

This guy was arrested for trying to abduct two young boys.. correct? don't most sex offenders choose one sex or the other. In most cases its either male or female not both. Thats why I wondered if the guy was really linked to this case or just in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Debbie   November 4th, 2009 4:04 pm ET

I hope this is the break the family/police dept. needs to find the sick creep that did this to Sommer. Also hope they prosecute whoever is responsible in Florida, they have the death penalty. debbie

BLastelic   November 4th, 2009 6:23 pm ET

They need to castrate sex offenders physically or chemically.

Diane   November 4th, 2009 6:24 pm ET

They put an ankle bracelet on Martha Stewart but not on registered sex offenders. When will we learn that treatment for this type of sexually-deviant behavior is ineffective; it doesn't work-ever! How many children have to be stolen and tortured before this society gets it?

liz   November 4th, 2009 7:37 pm ET

I dont know what the hell my parents did, but they put the fear of God in me..& my sister.. it was the 50's, & I lived in a California suburb, & rode my bike for miles, & played out everyday till dark 30....& always knew if anyone I DID NOT know spoke to me? RUN or RIDE like hell to home! And,most importantly, I always knew (& I dont know how!) my dad, a white collar, law abiding citizen & golf lover...would absolutely & without hesitation, kill anyone who harmed me! I know its a different world today, & Im glad I dont have grandkids to worry about....I just dont think anyone is afraid of the courts or the law now, so they feel free to act on every impulse, even the most evil of them. If our court system doesnt punish these monsters, it will get worse!~

Betty   November 4th, 2009 8:37 pm ET

I think that the Albany, GA. DA was a little slow in possibly linking this GA. sex offender(Kenneth Kellam) to Somer Thompson, although I am glad that he decided to. I reported this man to the Clay Co,, FL. Sheriff's Department on 10/27/09. I know there are sex offenders all over our great country, but when there is a connection to your home town you really begin to pay attention. I pray for this family every day as I can not even fathom losing my child! I hope for this family's sake that this is their man so they may rest a little easier!

Molly   November 4th, 2009 9:47 pm ET

What can we do as a nation to stop our children from being kidnapped, raped, then murdered? How can we stop these insane/sick people?

I feel this should be #1 in the US and not the War in Iraq.

I don't know how to start this campaign but I am sure someone does, and let's make sure we keep these monsters locked away for good. No slap on the wrists for them!!

Our President should make this his priority – he has 2 daughters and what if someone did this to them.

Let's stand up for all children!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!

Amada   November 4th, 2009 11:40 pm ET

I hope God take care of the Womens
I am sorry for the Family
I hope the family fines ther LoveOnes
for the guy God wiil take care of hem.
he will go to Hell.

linda mcdonald   November 5th, 2009 12:32 am ET

My daughters never let my grandchildren out of their sight. I can't imagine what is up with the parents. Always divorced, always have a 'boyfriend'. I think these people should start taking better care of their children. But, that's just me.

Granny   November 5th, 2009 12:55 am ET

These people who hurt or kill children are garbage and should be treated like garbage and discarded for good! We must Protect our children and keep them locked up for life, since if they get out, they WILL repeat their crimes on more innocent children.

Roxi   November 5th, 2009 4:28 am ET

You are all lucky you don't live with the Canadian justice system – it is worse than yours! A life sentence here means parole in only ten years (plus time served waiting for sentencing counts as time and a half!)

brenda   November 5th, 2009 7:43 am ET

Marilyn, a microchip isn't a locator device, it would only give the identity of a missing child 'after the fact'. But I like your idea... is there a gps locator chip for people that could be planted under the skin? If not, why not? Heck we do more to ensure our pet's safe return than we do our kids. Probably some PC ACLU-type will object, but if it saves a child? Or hundreds of children?

As for the predators, I don't think anything will deter them, including harsher punishments. Just like the "Terminator", they are compelled, driven to do what they do and can't stop no matter what.

Although we may want to kill each and every one of them, I have to ask... did they choose this for themselves? Could they control their behavior if they wanted to? Or are they so flawed and mentally ill that they, like their victims, have no choice in the matter? I believe the latter. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not advocating that they shouldn't be punished to the fullest, and I believe they should be permanenty removed from society, but I do favor society's deeper understanding of the mental illness that drives the people to do the unimaginable.

The bottom line? They cannot be deterred so we can only do more to protect our kids.

Samantha   November 5th, 2009 9:03 am ET

Until this man is proven to having been involved with Somer death people need to not cast judgement. I agree it's unsettling to have a registered sex offender in your neighborhood, but parent need to pay more attention to their kids also. We live a a wicked time evil is all around us and our children are the targets. People disappeared thirty years ago so we have never been 100% safe.

Tanner   November 5th, 2009 12:56 pm ET

The news media accentuates these cases by only focusing on the most dramatic ones. According to the Uniform Crime Reports forcible rape rates are down, and have been in decline since 1989. This decline comes even though our population is rising steadily. People are so freaked out that there is a creeper hiding outside there home when in reality these cases are only 29 per 100,000. Thanks to Nancy Grace you get to hear about them every night and she plays on emotions to heighten awareness on the issue. We cannot just kill sex offenders or force them have a microchip implanted, but perhaps a RFID bracelet that can only be removed within the home would be a viable option.

brenda   November 5th, 2009 3:22 pm ET

Tanner, I wasn't proposing microchipping sex offenders... I was proposing a method to gps-microchip our KIDS so the moment they go missing they could be found - and the perp taken off the streets before the unthinkable happens.

BTW, if your child is one of the "only 29 per 100,000" victims does that make it any better? One innocent victim is one too many.

Mandy   November 6th, 2009 3:31 pm ET

I agree with Jane...they should all be branded on there face! I live in a very small community where I grew up. I checked the sex offender web site not too long ago and realized that there are several in my community. No matter where you live, they are all around us. Keep your children close and trust very few with them. Our judicial system needs to wake up and start sending them to jail for life!! I would really like for all of the sex offenders to have death penalty and burn in hell, but at least lock them up for life and stop letting these sick individuals out to prey on women and children again!

Devilman12000   November 6th, 2009 3:58 pm ET

I have always believed having been a daycare teacher for 7 years that there is no rehabilitation for child molesters and I have been told before that I take things to the extreme but to me for the protection of our children there is no extreme I have always believed that a child molester should be killed forget the jail time and the parole or even being released you should be killed once a molester always a molester the drive is never gone and one thing that we learned in Early childhood was that they are the most dangerous because a molester can wait for a long time they will wait for the opportunity to strike so I say kill em how ever you see fight but death should be the only punishment for a molester

lashay   November 6th, 2009 6:19 pm ET

well I think all sex offenders should be shot, but in the case of Somer Thompson I think something else happened to that little girl unless evidence shows otherwise. The cops are looking for a sex offender to put the blame on is all.

Carol   November 6th, 2009 10:36 pm ET

Jennifer I totally agree with you on all your statements. Remember you need a license to have a dog, buy just about anyone can do have children.

Barbara Rose   November 7th, 2009 1:49 am ET

Nancy Grace,
Thank you so very much for your great show and the biggest thanks of all for being one of the very few that have even mentioned that November is Lung Cancer Awareness month, the #1 annual cancer killers of the following 5 cancers cancers combined.

We lung cancer fighters, the caregivers and survivors need to get the word out to the world to let them know of the discriminating and embarrassing funds we receive for research, testing and treatment of this #1 killer.

I am fighting lung cancer for over a year now, since the age of 54 and I I have tried for the past 1 1/2 to 2 months to try to get someone to help back us or put a "name and a face" to our fight. I did not even one no thanks rejection form letter answer.

Again, Nancy, thank you from the bottom of my heart for knowing, mentioning and caring! It gives meaning of our lives and for the deaths of our fighters that have lost the battle.

If you may know of an other avenue I may try to help get attention to this cause and to help bring it to the frontlines, I would be willing to do anything I can. Please let me know.!

Sincerely,
Barbara
Florida Lung Cancer Fighter

Marsha   November 8th, 2009 1:09 am ET

How many more innocent victims have to die before our justice system understands that lethal predators such as Anthony Sowell can not be rehabilitated? If he were a drug trafficker he would have been imprisoned for life but rape and destroy the lives of women and you might do 15 years! The real crime here is that we release this kind of "human" poison back into our society to feed on our children. My prayers are with the families and victims. Please Nancy...continue to shout out our disapproval. thanks

Marsha   November 8th, 2009 1:17 am ET

Marilyn...regarding your idea of putting microchips in our children....why not put the chip in the predator then we will know where he/she is and can shoot them when they approach our children....that would be justice. If the legal system wants to release them...them the system would be responsible for the lives of the predators...they attempt to approach a child and they die like they should have in the first place.

kim   November 8th, 2009 6:43 pm ET

I am very saddened by the deaths of our dedicated americans ,on our own soil. We are free , only because of these brave and dedicated soldiers . I cant' help but be very upset with the military themselves for this. The red flags were there. Now , who do we really blame. Yes , the killer did the action But, the Army should take the blame. This guy had major issues. and they were obviously ignored. Why !!!! My mother had 10 children and 5 served in the services. 2 in the vietnam erra. She also, had several grandchildren to serve this country. To even fathom, one would have been killed by another soldier on our own soil would have been soooo tragic and uncalled for. This guy had issues at the most special place in the services , Walter Reed. The one place americans usually think of with much pride for healing our wounded.Go figure. So they send him to Fort Hood!!! Why? Tell the families who lost their loved one , We are sorry. What BS . I love my country and the soldiers that serve us . But, i have a big issue with the organization that allowed this to happen. I 'm sure there are many military and non military patrons that would like to know what the hell happened here. Hopefully, these issues will never go without serious evaluation.Love to the soldiers of today and the future. God bless all that lost their lives and the injuried. I pray for the families God Bless America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Id look at mistys brother
He says he was there that night. That means he puts himself at the scene.

I think he has a lot more to do with this than misty cummings ever did.

I cannot imagine the terror in a childs eyes when they are taken from there family its pure sadistic evil .Shut your eyes and imagine a small child being raped by a grown man crying for his or her Mommy and nobody coming to help it makes me phyicaly ill to even picture it in my mind . Anybody that can harm a small child like that is capable of anything i mean anything. " Exterminate them " ....like cockroaches and it will make the next sicko a little afraid to continue his discusting behavior . Life is a gift and a gift should be treasured these people dont care about life they search each day for there next victim .Scaryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

I am so disgusted with all of the sex crimes against children! I mean what kind of sick person would want to have sex with a child?!? I agree with all of the viewers that say sex offenders should be put to death....why on earth do these sickos get released from jail? Why does the government say no to cruel and unusual punishment for these people? Was it not cruel and unusual for a child to be raped and then killed? I think so! In cases like these I do not think torture would be a cruel and unusual punishment at all. I agree with the viewer who posted that these criminals should be killed by the family of the victim! In other countries where they do this, it seems like there is less of it that goes on bc the offenders know that there will be punishment. They will not get to sit around all day and be fed and provided for. Jails too crowded? Hmmm...easy fix: kill those sickos and forget humane lethal injection...let the family shoot them right between the eyes and know that justice was served for their child and that the person who hurt their baby will never touch another child! The story with Shaniya especially hit me hard bc I have a 5 year old daughter. Trust me, if anyone hurt my daughter and I could get to them they would be tortured in the worst ways you can imagine and it would be a very slow and painful death!

Let's remember that not all sex offenders are child molestors & the media needs to educate the public on that !!
What about all the murderers that get out of prison, should'nt there be a registry for them too?? Would you feel safe that a former murderer lives in your neighborhood??
