November 4, 2009 Cops digging for more bodiesPosted: 03:52 PM ET
Investigators continue digging at the home of Anthony Sowell today after finding at least 4 more bodies inside the home yesterday. This brings the count to 10 bodies found and there is potential for more as authorities begin to go through the walls, floors, and ceilings of the home today. Police are hoping there are no other bodies at the home, but are not ruling anything out after their gruesome discovery yesterday of the 4 additional bodies buried in the backyard, as well as a human skull uncovered in the basement.
Anthony Sowell
That skull was found yesterday wrapped in a paper bag in a bucket in the basement …police will not say if this is the head of one of the 10 victims already found, or another dead person whose full body has yet to be unearthed. Shortly after the discovery of the bodies yesterday, police charged the 50 year old Sowell with 5 counts of aggravated murder. The former marine was also charged with rape, felonious assault, and kidnapping. He appeared before a judge this morning for arraignment where his bond was denied. Authorities have revealed the cause of death for 5 of the women was strangulation, but how the other 5 were killed remains unknown. The condition of the bodies found at the home has made obtaining official identification and determining cause of death difficult for the coroner’s office. As of now, none of the bodies have been identified, as the families of the missing people in the area wait with bated breath to find out if one of the bodies found was their missing loved one.
