Paris Hilton Arrested for Felony Drug Charge

Hilton’s Need for Lip Balm Leads to a Cocaine Possession Charge?

With her last major jail stint, involving DUI and probation violations, seemingly in her rearview mirror, it looks like Paris Hilton is in trouble again. This time the Hollywood socialite and star charged with cocaine possession. It all went down on the Vegas strip late Friday night where Hilton was hanging out with her nightclub mogul boyfriend, Cy Waits.

Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton

According to the arrest report, the couple was driving in Waits’ Cadillac Escalade when an officer pulled up next to them and smelled a strong odor of marijuana wafting from the SUV. Hilton and Waits were immediately pulled over. While Waits was arrested for driving under the influence, allegedly failing sobriety tests on the spot, Hilton asked to be taken inside the Wynn Hotel to avoid the cameras and the large crowd that was gathering. And in that moment of special celebrity treatment, Hilton found herself facing even more trouble.

While waiting safely inside the Wynn Hotel for a female officer to accompany her to a bathroom and her purse resting on a nearby table, Hilton told the male officer with her she needed to put on some lip balm. Yes, lip balm! When Hilton retrieves her purse and opens it, a bag of cocaine falls out in front of the cop. Also in the purse, Zig Zag “rolling” papers, $1,300 cash and credit cards, according to the police report. Hilton insisting all of those items do belong to her, but what she doesn’t claim belongs to her is the purse and the cocaine. That’s right, Hilton says she borrowed the purse from a friend and had no idea where the cocaine came from. Hilton is facing a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and has been released on her own recognizance. Her arraignment is set for October 27 in Clark County District Court.

It is so upsetting how stars are getting away with doing wrong in society. If it were you or I they would give us the book and we would have to do the full time.
It's got to STOP......if they give you 4 mos. you must DO 4 mos.
    No excusses.

    I AM MADDER THAN HELL!!!!!

If I was arrested for possesion of cocaine, They would jack the jail up, throw me under it and kick the jack out!! There would be at least a fifty thousand dollar bond for my release.

Paris Hilton is released "on her own recog."!!! Give me a break!

How is it that famous, prominent, or wealthy people get treated differently in the court system? Even Lohan did not serve the full sentence ordered by the court (which was a measly sentence anyway).

What kind of message does this send to our youth?

I think that its disgraceful that they got to walk out of central booking without having to post bail, see a magistrate, or fulfill any of the legal requirements that anyone else arrested did that night. What makes these people so special ? Celebrity? Wealth? Power? The make and model of SUV that they were driving? Granted, she was charged with felony drug possession, but was he charged with DUI? Not yet, but will he? The media is already spinning this as "water-walkers" who have to fight off stalkers and robbers from their home. Did the stalker in LA have any injuries inflicted during this so-called confrontation? Why are they granted a pass when anyone else in this position would be treated like America's Most Wanted and thrown underneath the jail.

All it doe's is give them the attention they are craving,Our justice system is all about money and these kind aren't going to do any time because they don't have to. Regarding the comment from one of the attorneys suggesting that Paris should not have to face consequences because she did not hurt anyone:
    1. drug and alcohol abuse/additiction does affect others in the life of the user
    2. perhaps she did not overtly hurt anyone – this time!
    3. the law is the law, and applies to everyone. If it needs to be changed, there are processes for doing that.

Does the DEA get involved and ask the Hilton's and Lohan's about who distribute to them? Their dealer should be scrutinized along with the stars. The media and paparazzi should hunt them down, perhaps it would hinder dealers to the stars.

So,,,,,,,why wasn't Paris treated like any other citizen when she was first pulled over? No officer of the law I know would take someone to private place to be questioned and almost allow her to use the bathroom. Seriously, favortism for actors/actresses in law enforcement should be punishable, those officers should be reprimanded for treating her differently than any other criminal.

Paris Hilton (in my opinion) has no meaningful or puroseful life. She could be out helping cancer patients, the homeless, the aged but no what is she doing partying and lying. Of course daddy's $$ will rescue her the way it always does. No need for bad publicity who cares everyone knows she will just get a little slap on the wrist. Because she is entilted to break the law???? What a waste of a life here on earth. She calls cocaine chewing gum what planet is she from??? If I were in her shoes I would be out helping people less fortunate than myself. Shame on You Paris. You need to wake up and see the world does Not revolve around YOU!!!

.....if one really takes a closer look at the Paris Hilton case, you'll see a little girl lost at sea. If she receives 'Hollywood justice' and the judge goes soft on her, her dilemma will continue on to the next episode which could be tragic. I believe that her parents felt it was more important to promote her beauty rather then helping her develop a spiritual and moral core. The judges in the past have given her easy sentences which certainly has not helped her, it just reinforces in her own mind that because of who she is, she can get off without any consequences.
In spite of the glitz, bling and privilege, Paris has an up hill road in front of her, and her Godless life will always be in turmoil until the day she takes off her rose colored glasses and face reality.

For those of you having a problem with law enforcement thinking it is wasting its time or targeting Paris Hilton, you truly are just stupid human beings. They actually escorted her home to her hotel room, they did not search her on the spot when they were well within their rights to do so, they arrested the driver on the spot after he failed his sobriety test. Only when Paris drops cocaine on the lobby floor do they arrest her. Sorry but when you drop cocaine in the lobby in front of a cop, you should be arrested for stupidity. They let her slide going back to the hotel but her complete moronic self has to self destruct again. She then lies to the officers saying she borrowed the purse and dont know whos cocaine it is....wow

She never even mentioned last night or tonight about the ambassadors daughter who fell out of a highrise in New York or the little boy who was taken off a school bus screaming he's not my dad. He was returned this week to his mother. Thank God! These things seem more important than Paris Hilton. If the shows are going to focus on Hollywood trash then you have lost your purpose. THIS IS ALL WRONG, how in the world can ANYONE fault these business owners for making money?!? Will NO ONE just come out and question her upbringing as a basis for her behavior? What values could she possible have, if any?! If her own family can't do anything with her, how in the world can one expect society to be responsible for her? The drug-induced behaviors and are mere manifestation of the damage that was done early on. Now is the time to enforce to her that the law applies to us all.

There is no way that Paris Hilton is going to get any thing more than a slap on the wrist from authorities here in Vegas for her recent arrest for cocaine. She is rich and famous and all she has to do is pay her way out of this. She has not been banned from Vegas, she has only been banned from the Wynn hotel, and most likely that is only temporarily. Vegas Casinos love her because she spends tons of money here and she is always in the headlines, which in turn puts Vegas and the Casinos in the headlines everytime she is in town. Everyone here in Vegas knows the laws simply don't apply to the very wealthy, they are above the law! I am sure the police here find it very frustrating when their efforts to enforce the laws are not backed up by the courts and higher authorities! No it is not fair, it is just a fact of life, there has and will always be two sets of rules, one set for the very wealthy and one set for everyone else!

Well, if the prosecutor in Las Vegas does not file formal charges against her, then perhaps based on the evidence a formal complaint should be filed against the ADA's office for violation of professional and ethical duties- if its a valid reason to charge her and she is not charged, I'm sure other cases have been prosecuted to the fullest with similar facts–and all attorneys are under a duty to report other attorneys potential ethical violations if warranted-so maybe there will be
accountability if professionals are held accountable for the privileged persons that get off the hook too easy
when if it was the average lay person there would be no easy solution-but if attorneys are held accountable for-letting one off easy then I think in future incidents that involve celebrities the ada will think twice in making prosecution and plea bargain decisions when their integrity and law license is under scrutiny.

FYI – blood samples are not taken to determine if someone is taking illicit drugs such as cocaine. Cocaine and other drugs such as Meth and THC (marijuana) require a random urine sample collection as the metabolites are excreted and filtered through the urinary tract system (ie kidneys).

Let's stop wasting precious media time on bull like Paris. Without a doubt, she's going to end up like River Phoenix, Anna Nicole Smith and Dana Plato (from Different Strokes) unless she gets scared straight. I think Paris's punishment should be to go to Hati or Pakistan for a minimum of a year, to help aid people who need help, or force her to pay a huge donation to these causes and leave the jail cell open for real, hardened criminals that need to kept away to protect society, which will help save taxpayer's money.

When I lived in Vegas, I was on a jury for a criminal case which was drug related. We were told when deliberating the case, that someone is in 'possession' of drugs if the drugs are on their person whether it be in a pocket, purse, etc. or if it's in the vehicle they are in whether on their person or not, or if it's in their house, apartment, etc., whether on their person or not. Because of these instructions and ruling, we had to convict someone because the drugs were in an apartment that person was in, and the person said the drugs were not theirs. So this being the case, wouldn't the drugs, whether they belonged to Paris or not, wouldn't she be in possession of them since they were on her person? And then shouldn't she be convicted as this other person was? If Paris is not given the punishment she deserves as this other person was given, people should start suing the justice system to get the same treatment that these celebrities are getting. I'm thinking the justice system needs to start being tougher on the celebrities since they are the ones who should be setting an example and they are getting off easy. What is the world coming to? Sad how the government is looking the other way or taking money for an easy out for celebrities.

people say that they are upset about these girls that are supposedly "idols". i think that the court systems are going to start having to take the blame here. so many times they let "celebrities" off because of their status. so many times, they get special privledges. it is time for the courts to start sending messages. girls that look up to Paris think that it is alright to carry around cocaine, or smoke marijuana because if paris gets away with it so can I. It is time for the courts to start treating our "idols/celebrities" like normal people. maybe then our teens will start thinking twice about what they are doing rather than saying well if Paris did it and got away with it then its alright.

Paris better not get off with her obsequiosness. She and all other celebrities get a "get out of jail" free card too many times. If they do go to jail, it is a laughable few days or weeks. Paris obviously has no regard for the law, and the law has no regard for her. KICK HER BEHIND, NOW!!

This is just another act for her. She hasn't been in the news much since after her release from jail. This was something she probably planned to get into the news. She seriously calls her self a role model, driving drunk and doing drugs isn't much of a role model. I am a 17 year old girl and I find her nothing about her to be a role model! She needs to grow up and act her age!

Paris Hilton is throwing it all away for a few fleeting pleasures. She needs a reality check doing some serious time in a Nevada state woman's penetentiary out in the middle of nowhere. That might be her only hope.

I had a lot of respect for Paris Hilton a few years ago, but now she is just being irresponsible.

I agree with most of the blogs above. Paris and all these other little so-called stars need a rude awakening. They are setting a bad example for our youth and if that is not bad enough they are then profiting from it. Most everything directed to our youth from Hollywood is so superficial and meaningless. They are warping the minds of our kids and anyone who doesn't have a brain. Come on... get real! Treat these so-called stars like everyone else! They will never learn without any consequences.

I agree with most of the blogs also..Paris Hilton is a spoiled brat who's had everything handed to her. She's gone no where with her life, she's dingy as hell, and she sucks @the acting thing..She needs to go to prison like anyone else would..The justice system needs to show the rich & famous that money cant buy freedom and if they chose to do the crime then they should have to do the time.. Just like everyone else.......

Its funny how $ and celebs can walk all over the justice system. If an ordinary american got caught with cocain we would face jail time. What these girls need is the judge to make them go through a scared straight prison program to meet real inmates and letthem see the real walls in thee joint.Judges dont do right by giving 1 year probation without having random testing. Give them 90 days fist offense 160 days on second offense like you do to all others who have had similiar cases.I guess money deos buy everything here in this wicked world,But I guarantee that $ wont bribe the Judge above all Judges. = ) God Bless, George South Gate Calif.
