Oh goodness, the step-monster has decided to play nice now? Because she knows the dad (now that he's in jail) is going to implicate her! This should get interesting. I pray to God daily that the little spunky girl will some how be miraculously found alive, but I know He has His reasons and likely it's not to be. I pray at least that she is in a better, loving place.

I'm just sick on how many innocent children now a days are being harmed by the ones who are suppose to protect them. It has become Daily Head Lines. If this child is dead because of the parents (more then likely) I hope they rot. This has to stop.

I have to say this latest news, the prothesis found, the digging up the
back yard, has brought me to tears. I had so hoped she was alive. I don't believe the child ever had one happy day. But I know if she is dead, she is alive with Jesus in heaven. Also whoever causes harm to little ones will be cast into the sea forever more. This evil must stop.

In this country they hate to be suspicious of any parent even when a child ends up over the balcony, killed in driveways, left in cars to die or
drowning in pools. All put down to accidents. Same as when they go missing or a 2 year old killed in the street at night wandering from home. 2 year olds in this country are alleged to open deadlocks and everything. We need the courage the USA has to deal with mothers as well as fathers.

thank you Nancy for all that you do im a military spouse and i really love watching your show i have been following the Zarah story and it make me so sad to see such a beautiful little girl who fought for her life with the cancer and won and now she moves with the devil and she is taken away from with world , where is her mom and grandmother are they here and when her step mother called police to say her back yard was on fire did this not flag police when she went missing to check there, i just dont understand , it took my husband and i 10 yrs to have our little girl and for someone as evil and crazy to take the life of theres should rot in hell.

I feel that if the killers wouldn't get pubilicity for their crimes and get the death sentence they would think twice about doing the crime in the first place. They must think they are celebrities when they do such a horrific crime. As far as Zahra Baker's step mom is concerned she ought to be treated the way poor little Zahra was treated. The poor child had no chance from day one. Her father ought to be beaten for allowing this to happen. She would be better off with her grandmother. Why did they want her woth them when they really didn't want her in the first place? This would have never happened if she was not made to come to the United States and North Carolina anyway. Did anybody do blood stain check on the wood chipper that belonged to the daddy? There are places for people like you Alsia and Mr Baker! HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just cant believe this. What a sick sick world we live in now. I hope they find that little girl alive but Im afraid they wont. She is in Heaven now. A much better place for her.How could you do that to your own child. She had come so far. Ive had health issues and my parents were always there for me and wouldnt have dreamed of doing anything to harm me. The truth will come out one day whether its here on this earth or when they stand before God and give an account to what they have done. I keep checking for updates on this and hope they find her,one way or another.
I would like to use a different term for these people than parents......THE LAST THING they are is parents. MURDERERS, and CHILD ABUSERS, quite likely, yet even that seems in adequate to the heinous, vile, natures' of the ANIMALS that tormented and tortured a child to death. I think this story is one of the saddest I have ever read, this child survived cancer only to be murdered (likely). I want to say not all stepmothers are bad or are monsters. There are bad people in all walks of life. This childs father holds responsibility here I would like to know if he is innocent how he explains his wifes actions and where his daughter has been. Pretty sure everyone gets the point that every american thinks the step mom was in on it. We also need to focus on not only Poor Zahra, but the fact that many years ago this kind of thing was unheard of. Children never went missing by their own parents as they do now. I believe we live what we learn, and we survive in our own circumstance. People learn from people, the parents, and family should take a look at themselves when they see their own children murdering their grandkids. Why Are parents so willing to give up on life, their children, and everyone who surrounds them that couldve helped before it came to this. I am speaking about alot of cases of children going missing or murdered by parents. It happens everywhere, everyday. Family services ignore the signs that scream out help everywhere. They are not willing to intervene unless you can somehow document abuse or neglect. They give parents a nice little 24 hour notcie before they come to check on the child. Giving them plenty of time to hide their wrong doing and coach their child/children. There is not enough being done about any of this.I was a victim of abuse my entire childhood. Nothing was ever done even when child services was very aware of it.

Also people keep asking "what about the maternal mother", the only person who truly loved that child was the grandmother.There is a reason the maternal mother didnt keep her, the relationship with the father was a mistake and she didnt want a reminder? The reference to Manson in Elisa Baker's letters, as well as the song played on Elisa Bakers Face Book site, leads me to conclude that Zahra's murder was likely ritualistic and terrible beyond words. Elisa Baker could have been acting out and playing her horrible "theme song" while killing Zahra. It's obvious that there are many more horrifying elements of this case that remain to be shared.
I remember hearing that the search dogs hit on a wood chipper. I think that she was put into that wood chipper and then there was a fire in the back yard of their home, the mulch on fire. Although bone chips and teeth and things like that would be left . She said in the letter the Dad did something really bad afterwards don't know where it was disposed of , but I think she went in the wood chipper.
If you're willing to open your heart, you can love ANY child as much as the ones you have given birth to. What about adoptive parents?? they love their children as much as any other parent.
I have an 18 month old stepdaughter. born from an affair my husband had and his mistress dropped her on MY door step at 4 days old. I love her like no tomorrow she is MY daughter. I love her every single bit as much as my 5 other children!
Just because you don't have the capacity to love your step child like your other child(ren), doesn't mean the rest of us don't. I would give my life for any of my 6 children, biological or step, doesn't matter.

Was this beautiful little girl under any health care here in the States? I would think a child that has had cancer would be having regular checkups but from what I have read, all her medical are in Australia. Why would this child have no doctor here in the States?

First I would like to say I am also so very sad for this little girl and I agree that she is at total peace and in the most loving arms of our very Awesome God. One thing is I know somewhere in the bible it is very clear that one that harms one of Gods children will endure the wrath of God. So no matter what and when, Justice will prevail!
To AJM... Please excuse me for saying this.. but relax! You may have been offended by the comments towards step moms but you have no idea the hurt and pain that most and surely likely come behind such comments. I too, had a step mother in my life since I was 8 years old. She was everything to me and I looked up to her my WHOLE LIFE and this was the person I NEVER would or could have believed would turn on me, hurt me like no one ever could, and would betray me and my sisters like she did when my father passed away just a few years ago, when I was in my mid 40's. Even to watch my father suffer useless and such unnecessary suffering because of her selfishness and later to find greed took over her kind and loving soul and spirit that one could turn on us and hurt all of us beyond words.. You have no idea what that is like and obviously there are others here that do. So, again, pull in your reins and don't take it so personally as hopefully when the end days come your way you to won't turn on those you speak of that has poured love and trust into you with all their lives. It's a pain that one has to live daily with and no one can take away.

I think the fire incident is so suspicious. Were they burning evidence/clothing? The dogs hitting on the woodchpper....the mattress being tossed. ....there must of been evidence on that mattress.

Now the stepmother is stating that she found the girl dead! An innocent person would call 911 if that were to happen. Not get rid of the body like a murderer would do. What a bunch of baloney. This is EXACTLY what a GUILTY person would say if this was their last straw! This witch beat this poor disabled child, whos already been through a lot in her life, most likely resulting in her death. No one will ever know how she died or what she went through. They found a bone fragment. Seems to me she was put through the wood chipper. i agree with what kathy had said,i ve said this before,i think the step mother and father had put her in the mulcher with tree branches and other pieces of tree parts,didnt the dogs sniff her sent in that erea??that s where they should had started the search,then they had set the pile on fire to make sure there wasnt any evidence of the little girl..with out a body no one can be held for murder...no dna test nothing ..the bone part was probaly in the artifical leg when it was taken off ..since there was a serial number that was traced ..they new enough that they couldnt put that in the mulcher too.bec ause the number would had been noticeable even the fire it would had still showed ..god bless the little angel she suffered so much,with the bone cancer,,then was killed..that is so sad..she has to be one of gods angels in heaven for what she went through......
There's no words to describe of what kind of monsters who would or could purposely hurt any child even their own flesh and blood. In this case its not just pointing one finger on one or the other they both are guilty. And for them to just sit behind bars and continously play games on this girl is pure sickening, and wish the death penalty to any or both who killed this girl it just churns my stomach to think a father would do this to his little girl and actually think he or they would get away with it. Hasn't anyone figured this out? Zahra lived with her grandmother in Australia. He met the stepmother on-line And she fakes illnesses for attention. He brought zahra with him to the US because she wanted the attention. When the attention stopped, the abuse stared because she did not need zahra anymore. He was acrid she would tell everyone the marraige was a sham so he had to get rid of the body and once again attention is focused on them (palying into the stepmom's sick psychi. Dolly, You do not speak for us step-moms who love their step children very much the same as their own. My heart breaks at the abuse my step children go through when they are with their biological mother. I provide a loving, fun and educational environment while their bio mother spends the child support I provide on fast food and babysitters so that she can go to the bar every night. There is no food or heat in her home the majority of the time and she makes a lot of money in addition to the $2000 I send her every month. She sends our children back to us with torn underwear and dirty, ill fitting, clothes. I mend and clean their clothes, take them to the doctor and dentist, I give them well balanced, home cooked, meals and I'm the one who comforts them when they are shaking and in tears when I have to take them back to their bio mother. I spend the rest of the week worrying about them. You don't have a clue what a step mother feels for her step children because you have a limited capacity for love. I want them with me but the courts think that substandard care is no reason to separate them from their bio mother.
Nancy I have a question. Where was the dad when all this abuse was allegedly going on? He lived in the same house didn't he? There's no way he could not have known what was going on. His silence was an agreement to his own daughter's treatment. Now the step-mother's cousin is coming forward to defend her? I understand having family loyalty, but are all those around her really this blind? Or has the step mom just gotten them all fooled. Regardless I hope she gets life in prison. My heart goes out to Zahra who won a battle against cancer twice only to have her life stolen by someone closest to her.

You know all these people coming out and saying they knew Zahra was being abused ought to be ashamed.As a mother of a ten year old girl I would knock someones head off if I see abuse of a child. I was molested when I was 7 thank god my parents and my dog were very protective because that nut only had 5 to 10 minutes before my dog bit his butt and my mom and dad were right behind him. Does anyone seriously believe the step-mom? She should own up to what happened to Zahra. Instead of the authorities wasting manpower (as well as taxpayers $'s) she needs to come forward and honestly tell what she knows and then, maybe just then, people will have a different opinion of her. They have been missing for a few years now. He told a cell mate that pigs eat anything and that's how he kills. He wasn't charged but went to jail on fire ARM charges. If Zarha is gone I hope the mom gets justice .
This is very sick, twisted & makes me sick. My guess is that one or both parents killed her in her bed (as she reportedly was sick again) and maybe they couldn't handle it or just snapped. Then the father put her through the wood chipper, through the leg off some highway, brought the mattress to the landfill, and her remains to what is a dumping grounds for animal bones. They thought they would disperse of her remains wide-spread and get away with it. Two cars tested positive for Z's DNA which means both parents were somehow involved. One car took the body to the woodchipper and the other car took her to the dumpsite. I could not imagine ever harming my child, let alone putting her body in a wood chipper!! They will get them both talking soon when they start turning on one another. The sad part is the birth mother was looking for her all along and had just located her in the US 3 days prior to her reported being missing. The father kept the child from the mother all these years becuase she temporarily gave up her rights to Z becuase of a bad bought of depression. But she never imagined he would leave with the child with no contact or anything. This just makes me sick..

This case, the story of Zarah goes beyond human comprehension. I cannot wrap my mind around the whys and what fores. These people must be pure evil. God has a special place for them. Any one who hurts a child. This step lady (she is not a mom) and this person called her dad will answer for this crime. God show as much mercy on them as they did toward Zarah." Vengeance is mine" saith the Lord.
I believe God has a plan for them and it ain't pretty.
What a couple! They kill her than just ack like no big deal. I have prayed that Zarha would find my daughter and all the other murdered children and stay together in God's bossom. This does bring up issues for me due to the death of my daughter too. But she wasn't dismembered like this little angle. Which makes it all the more scarry and unbelievable. My heart also goes out to the biological Mom as well. I really pray that Justice is served here on earth as well as on judgement day, as I'm sure they will. It's like anyone thinking that they are hidding things, but in the end they die alone and will be their maker and will be not able to hide anything.

In Portland, Oregon we have another step mom that i think did something to her step son Kyle Horman. I don't think that all step parents are bad but i do think that almost all treat their step, or adoptive children differently. There's too much of this sadness in the news happening more and more it seems. I wish that the parents feeling stressed out or whatever they are going through would get help from a professional to help them through their hard times. I think that friends and family members should step up and discuss with the person about seeking help. Our children whether step or not are our future and we need to treat them properly so that we as a nation can better ourselves. Every generation should better themselves and strive to make past mistakes, past mistakes. I feel sorry for all of the mistreated children but to know that their suffering is finally over and that they are with our father in heaven is a good thought. Pay attention to our children and make sure that they are alright. What is hard about that?

The dad is just as guilty as the step mother, maybe more so. I think he was angry that the biological mother finally found them and wasn't about to let her have the little girl even if it was joint custody because he was probably abusing her for years and thought that it would all come out and wanted to save his own ass.
I am a step mom and I treat my step children as if they were my own. This has just disturbed me. And not only was it the step mother it was the father to... How can anyone do this to a child, blood, any of it. The Lord will bring every situation to light.
The step mom keeps saying that she found Zahra dead, but if she did, what in this world could be the reason why she didn't call 911? Is it because they let her die? Seems a little strange that she would just die suddenly. For some reason, they didn't want anyone to see her body. Was she starved to death? Was it dehydration? Was it that she was severely abused? What other reason could they have for not calling 911 when and if they found her dead?

This happend in all generations. Only now do we hear about it because kids have to be registered for school and people take notice and call when they don't see a neighbors kid for a long time. About this little girl, it is so awful that no one helped this baby. I couldn't believe last night when the step-monsters sister came on your show and was complaining that people were lying on tv. None of these people cared about this little girl. But now she is with the Lord and she won't have to worry about pain, missing a leg, or her crazy parents. Children are innocent and belong to God first .This child was rescued by Jesus after her animal of a step-monster killed her . I too was a child of a Step-monster and the only thing keeping mine from killing me was the fact that my Grand parents lived with us untill I was old enough to finally tell her NO, not any more, will you hit or beat me.Then the spite enraged the woman so much that she began to mentally abuse me untill I considered suicide,then left at 16 joined the USMC at 17. It is NOT true that all stepmothers are evil. I was a stepmother for 7 1/2 years and my boys loved me. I was brokenhearted that our marriage did not work out. I still miss those boys to this very day and remember our times together.
Even if it was not "our weekend," we often had the boys. I took our younger son out for Halloween twice and made his costume for him because his mother was either too busy or too tired. Sometimes they would go without home-cooked meals for days until they came to our house.

I've read all the comments here and since this thread started so much has happened in this story. Her body has been found, the stepmonster is talking, the new reports of Zahra being raped, the dismemberment. All of it sickening.
Even bio-mom's short visit here proclaiming she found out where Zahra was just 3 days before she was reported missing. Who believes that lie?
Yes I absolutely believe Zahra is in a better place, finally at peace, no more suffering from illnesses, and the abuse and neglect she was given by these two monsters.
And stepmonsters family. What kind of tree did they all fall out of? One minute they are supportive of stepmonster, the next they are horrified that she did this. They can't keep their stories straight or their alliances straight.
Who here believes that anyone of these nuts actually contacted child services after witnessing abuse? I don't, not for a minute. And if they were actually contacted what role did they play in helping this beautiful little girl? Were they complete incompetents not to remove her from that house of horrors?
At the end of the day and as more is revealed they will be the most hated couple not only here in the United States but all around the world.
Zahra will get her justice. It just takes time, this is not CSI, this is real, and it can't be solved and resolved in a short one hour clip.
Once they finally reach the gates of hell (Prison) even the criminals have a code of conduct. They too don't like people like this. I give them 5 years or less before they are murdered by one of the criminals that they are locked up with. They don't stand a chance in prison, and they will be killed hopefully sooner rather than later.
Then those of us who pay for their room and board will be relieved of having to pay for their incarceration. Even the thought of all the money that will be spent to have a trial will be a waste of taxpayers money. But it will give them a one way ticket to their new home and they will pay the ulimate price for their version of evil. Mark my words.....their days are numbered.
May Zahra never be forgotten. May her death benefit other children and laws and practices be changed because of this horrific story. May her life have more meaning than just being the victim of a crime.
I truly hope that the laws will change as a result of this. Our children are our most prized gift and should be treated as such. Our children should always get the protection they need, as they are defenseless and innocent victims of abuse, neglect, and murder.
May this death and others such as the little girl in North Carolina who was sold for sex to pay a drug debt (can't remember her name now) by her monster mother and the video we all watched as she was lead into the motel room to be raped. All of these children should mean something to us as a society.
There has to be positive that comes out of the tragedy. New laws that not only punish the guilty party, but executions that will be carried out quickly with no appeals process. That will be the justice these victims deserve.
And child services. Where do I even begin when I think of how these child died as a result of someone dropping the ball in child services. It's time to revamp their system of protecting our children. Our tax dollars should be spent building up a force of people who will give a crap, who will do something, they need to hire more competent officers to enforce the protection of all the children being abused.
Child Services needs to hire more people, we need to stop paying the bills of other countries and assisting them, when we right here in the United States are in dire need to help our own. The government spending to help others needs to stop. Because our own country is out of control and help is needed NOW for our children.
And to the citizens of our country. We need to get involved. We need to help the children that are being abused or neglected. By sitting on the sidelines doing nothing, not speaking out we are just as guilty as the criminals who hurt our children. It costs us nothing to pick up the phone and report it. What are we afraid of? Getting involved? The purest protection we can give is to report abuse. It will save lives, it will give those kids a chance at a better life, it will give the children the ability to grow up and become decent members of society, instead of leaving them in the abuse and neglect and they grow up and repeat the cycle.
We citizens need to stop being afraid of reporting it. We can protect children by a simple phone call. I hope someone reading this will do the right thing in the future. We don't need to keep reading about Zahra's, or Jaycee Duggard's of the world. We can make the difference.
I think it's time for Obama to get involved in saving America's children. Everyday you open the news there is another child murdered, and the most disturbing thing is they are murdered by their parents. There should be a way to send all news about dead American children straight to Obama's morning meeting. It should be the first thing on his agenda to take care of for the day. Our Government needs to step up and save our children from the "American Child Terrorist"- the parents.
