A young couple reportedly partied at a bar after allegedly murdering a 19-year-old girl, then argued about how to dispose of her corpse in text and Facebook messages!
A California woman who set up a hidden camera in her home because she suspected her boyfriend was cheating on her ended up capturing him doing something much worse than she expected, prosecutors said Friday.
According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, 24-year-old Joshua Allen Robey was caught on tape swinging his 2-month-old son by the neck with a “noose-like” blanket and repeatedly shaking and punching him. Robey has been charged with attempted murder, torture and child abuse causing great bodily injury to a child under 5 years old, a press release stated.
Prosecutors allege that on October 18, Robey went to his girlfriend’s home to babysit their son. The girlfriend, who believed he was cheating on her, had the hidden camera record his actions while she was out.
When she watched the video the following morning, the girlfriend saw Robey wrap a blanket around the child’s neck and lift him by the ends of the blanket, “swinging the victim around for over a minute,” according to the district attorney’s press release. He also allegedly lay the baby down and punched him several times, grabbed him by the throat and violently shook him.
Prosecutors say Robey attempted to suffocate the boy at one point by covering his face with a blanket and covering his mouth with his hand.
The girlfriend’s mother took the boy to the hospital on October 19 after learning about the video and the hospital then contacted Anaheim police. Robey was arrested later that night at a motel where he was staying.
Robey remains in custody at Orange County Jail awaiting a November 9 arraignment. If convicted, he could face 15 years to life in prison.
