A young couple reportedly partied at a bar after allegedly murdering a 19-year-old girl, then argued about how to dispose of her corpse in text and Facebook messages!
More than two years after the murder occurred, a 17-year-old girl pleaded guilty Tuesday to killing a 9-year-old neighbor.
Court records show Alyssa Bustamante entered a guilty plea to an amended charge of second degree murder and one count of armed criminal action in the October 21, 2009 death of Elizabeth Olten. She had originally been charged with first degree murder in the case.
Bustamante’s sentencing hearing was set for February 6. The second degree murder charge carries a possible sentence of 10 to 30 years in prison.
According to the News Tribune, Bustamante admitted in court Tuesday that she strangled Olten, stabbed her in the chest and cut her throat, as alleged in the indictment against her.
The defendant, who was 15 at the time of the murder, reportedly told police that she killed Olten because she just wanted to know what it felt like. Many of Bustamante’s statements to police were thrown out as evidence in the case after the judge ruled last June that the juvenile officer present during her interrogation “used deceptive tactics” and misled her about the punishment she could face.
