UPDATE: The two toddlers who vanished early Wednesday were recovered unharmed.
Police are investigating the reported abduction of two toddlers by a man who had stopped to help their mother after their car broke down on a Georgia highway early Wednesday morning.
According to a DeKalb County Police Dept. press release, 3-year-old Jalen and 1-year-old Amari Mattison were reported missing around 2 am and authorities are calling the case an “active kidnapping.”
The boys’ mother told police that her car broke down on I-20 near Wesley Chapel Road and an unidentified black male seemingly stopped to assist her. While she arranged to have her car towed, however, the man drove away with the two boys, police said.
The suspect is described as approximately 6 feet tall and thin, last seen wearing a brown or tan baseball hat and driving a green 2000-2005 model Jeep Cherokee.

What was she doing out with babies at 2am. Why do peoples take babies out after they should be in bed. Stupid peoples should be sterilized.
really not for you to judge? maybe the lady had a job and picked her kids up from the sitter, or maybe she was on her way to a hospital, maybe one of them was sick, who knows, people like you need to be left on an island and fed to the wild animals! just because a SINGLE mother has to make ends meet, dont mean she didnt deserve to be a mom, i mean look what your parents BRED< ignorance,maybe they should be charged with a crime,
Sounds like what Susan Smith said. But that certainly doesnt mean this lady is lying. Theres plenty of monsters out there that would jump at the chance to drive away with any of our kids. Either way it doesnt bode well for those little boys and there has been more of these cases in the past where the parent looks as much like the suspect as anyone. The next request would be a polygraph if shes telling the truth... If she passes then the police can use their assets looking for the real perp.We can only pray those boys make it back alive and as unharmed as possible.
Occasionally, it isn't even a kidnapping attempt - merely a car theft. In some cases, the thief drops the kids off somewhere when he discovers them. Let's hope and pray for their safety.
On the other hand, if it IS the mother lying to create a cover story, then there probably isn't much hope at all.
Update: according to another online news source, the kids have been recovered. Apparently the thief dropped them off with some women, claiming they were his and they needed a little babysitting... the women called the police.
But the kids aren't back with the mom; they are instead with Family and Children Services. Some parts of the mom's story or situation concerned the police, so they contacted DFCS.
